John R. Gulash

 

Attorney John Robert Gulash, or Bob as he is more commonly known, is the founding partner of Gulash & Associates.  A lifelong Connecticut 

resident, Attorney Gulash began practicing in 1976 after graduating from Stetson University School of Law.  

 

He joined the Office of the Public Defender in 1976 as an Assistant Public Defender assigned to Bridgeport’s high and low courts (Part A and Part B).  Attorney Gulash began his career in private practice in 1981 when he founded his own firm in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he focused primarily in the area of criminal defense and ancillary civil and administrative matters. 

Attorney Gulash has tried over two hundred full jury trials in state and federal courts, and he has handled dozens of appeals, including many high-profile cases.  

 

He has also appeared on behalf of clients in other contexts, such as civil service disciplinary boards, the Department of Public Health, 

educational boards, and motor vehicle administrative hearings.

 

Attorney Gulash has experience representing a wide range of clients at all stages in the legal process, including the pre-arrest period, employment and civil matters relating to criminal charges, mediations, trial, and post-trial matters such as the pardon application and hearing process.  

 

Outside of his criminal defense practice, Attorney Gulash has also handled civil rights actions for both plaintiffs and defendants, 

wrongful death actions, and other civil matters.

 

During Attorney Gulash’s forty-plus years of practice in Connecticut, he has developed 

a huge breadth of experience, particularly in litigation and criminal defense.  Attorney Gulash is often asked to lend his expertise as a guest 

lecturer to state and local bar association seminars, professional organizations, and law enforcement training programs.

 

Attorney Gulash is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and current and former member of a number of committees devoted 

to improving the rules and functioning of Connecticut courts, such as the Judicial Performance Evaluation Program Advisory Panel, the Superior Court Criminal Division Task Force, the Fair and Impartial Courts Committee, and the Code of Evidence Oversight Committee of 

the Supreme Court. Attorney Gulash has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America since 

1991 and is routinely recognized as one of the top rated criminal defense attorneys by Connecticut Magazine’s annual rankings.

Attorney Gulash is admitted to practice in both Connecticut and Florida.  He is conversant in Spanish.
